BRING JOY TO THE CHILDREN OF UKRAINE

CHRISTMAS SHOE BOX APPEAL 2026

Thank You!

We have had an amazing response to this year’s Christmas Shoe Box Gift Appeal!

We have received 863 Shoe Box Gifts, that are now packed away – awaiting Steve Hodgson’s arrival on the 13th December to take them back to Odesa, where his team will distribute them amongst the children in that region.

Last year we received 450 Shoe Box Gifts so this year’s effort, from the good people of Cumbria, reflects the great support we have received since forming Cumbria Aid Ukraine a year ago.

A huge thank you to everyone who brought a gift we will be running the appear again next year, but hopefully in more peaceful times.

Yes its that time of year again and sadly this terrible war goes on so we have launched our 4th Christmas Shoe Box Appeal. As in previous years we aim to put some smiles on the faces of Ukrainian children this Christmas!

You can put anything in there that you think a child world like to receive, toys, games, stationary, sweets, hygiene items like toothbrushes and soap, clothes, t-shirts etc. Don’t forget to include a message!

As last year we would ask you to put together boxes for all ages not just the little ones as there are many internally displaced or orphaned older children and teenagers.

Please wrap them well (seal the lid) and label clearly with the age group and boy/girl etc. Drop them in anytime to The Pot Place Garden Centre before 15th November.

We also ask that this year you give a £1 donation with every box to cover the cost of the fuel it takes to get these wonderful gifts to Ukraine.

Our good friend Steve Hodgson from CARNA will be collecting from us in late November so let’s not miss this fantastic opportunity to bring some happiness into their lives as we have done in previous years.

The Pot Place Garden CentreDrop off your donations at The Pot Place Garden Centre, before the 15th November. Steve Hodgson will be collecting the donations in late November. Thank you!

BRING HELP TO THE PEOPLE OF UKRAINE

Donations

Autumn 2026 funding Appeal

All those who support Ukraine are now looking towards winter and the hardship it will bring once again. This year we are asking for your help in raising funds for these two specific projects.

20kw generator

3 x 20kva Generators for schools in Tuzly district near Odesa

Recently Steve was invited to visit his local school that educates around 350 kids from ages 5 to 16. They have a partner school nearby and both have no generator backup for when the inevitable power cuts come this winter. These power cuts also mean there is no water pumped for toliets and cooking. So, along with Cumbria & Lancashire Rotary Clubs, we have taken to keep these children warm and in school this winter.

Continuing the supply of ambulances and 4WD vehicles to hospitals, military medics and air defence

Without transport the effort to treat the injured, disabled, sick or elderly comes to a halt. We, along with many other groups, buy, equip and deliver these vehicles to Ukraine but we can only do this with your help. We will be taking numbers 30 and 31 out soon but more are always needed.

If you would like to support either of our projects, then please what you can – every little does help.

CUMBRIA AID UKRAINE

Who we are

Cumbria Aid Ukraine is a volunteer group based at The Pot Place Garden Centre near Penrith, Cumbria. Since the start of the war in Ukraine, we have been raising funds to purchase and equip emergency vehicles and deliver them to Ukraine in support of their medical services.

Our connection in Ukraine is directly with the Lviv EMS, and we are guided by their requests for assistance. As of October 2025, we have delivered 12 ambulances, 5 4WD ambulances, 4 paramedic motorcycles, and 1 car.

We also serve as a collection point in Cumbria for donated humanitarian aid, which we then transport to Ukraine.

By choosing to donate, you help Cumbria Aid Ukraine to save more lives in Ukraine!

Our vehicles will assist in the safe evacuation and transportation of the injured, including children, women, and the elderly. Additionally, they will facilitate the crucial delivery of medical personnel and aid to areas in urgent need.

🇺🇦 Update 🇬🇧 since Steve left with the full load of sanitiser two weeks ago we’ve continued to receive great feedback and donations 🙏
The JCB sold quickly to Alex Ball and John from Manchester. No negotiations, they could see the work we do and gave us what we were hoping for, no questions. Great support from them and interesting contacts for the future! 🇺🇦🤝🇬🇧
We’ve also had some great pictures from the lads who received footballs and kit from Penrith Football Club and more have been donated from Northbank in Carlisle. If you don’t have a use for last years kits due to sponsorship changes please let us have them 🇺🇦⚽️🇬🇧 As we’ve said many times, these small gestures help to keep life as normal as possible for kids whilst under constant threat from the war 🇺🇦❤️🇬🇧
Next our attention turns to the three vehicles we’re hoping to take out to Ukraine at the end of October. Preparations are under way but funds are tight due to ever increasing fuel costs. If you can help please donate via the details on our website. Thank you 🇺🇦🚑🇬🇧

🇺🇦Fantastic recent donations!🇬🇧 Firstly Andrew from Brackenthwaite donated his JCB for us to sell to raise funds for our work. Having already donated generators this is the kind of local support we have come to rely on 🇺🇦🤝🇬🇧
And in the last few days Archie and Sean from Alliance Ambulance Services in Glasgow donated a full equipped PTS ambulance for us to take to Ukraine!! This is the 3rd vehicle from their fleet they have donated 🇺🇦🫶🇬🇧
When funds are low and it’s tough to raise money for our work it’s acts of kindness and support like these that keep us going 😊 Huge thanks to you both 🇺🇦❤️🇬🇧
Details of the JCB available on request or search for it on FB Marketplace 🙏

CUMBRIA AID UKRAINE

Please help us to continue supporting the Ukrainian people who are fighting for their independence.

CUMBRIA AID UKRAINE

OUR MISSION

  • To assist the emergency services and other organisations in Ukraine through the provision of specialist vehicles and equipment.
  • To act as a hub for donations of humanitarian aid that we transport to Ukraine with the help of our partners Steve Hodgson and his CARNA Foundation.

From the first days of the invasion we have been fundraising to supply the emergency services of Ukraine with ambulances and rescue vehicles. Following our latest journey in September 2025, we have now taken 12 ambulances, 4 motorcycles, 5 4WD medevac cars and  estate car (22 vehicles in total).

All this has been possible, thanks to the fundraising efforts of our Cumbrian community. But our work continues…
